Gary Burt, MIEP, Chair of the IEP Business Forum and Liz Clutton, MIEP, Vice Chair of the IEP Business Form joined forces to present at this years Into Work Convention, held at the QEII Conference Centre in Westminster on 14th July.

Their workshop, titled What works in employer engagement attracted a full house of nearly 50 guests to hear Gary and Liz share their perspectives of what really works when talking to employers.  Exploring first-hand experience of collaborative approaches to employer engagement, attendees learned about best practice and what business thinks employability providers should do to raise standards and deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.

Social clauses

The audience, made up of representatives from local authority, training providers, apprenticeship agencies, colleges and housing associations also heard about the importance of social clauses and why, in an uncertain market, where finding placements for some of the hardest to help client groups, is key to sustainability.

Following the event Gary said, This was a real opportunity to raise awareness of IEP and speak directly to professionals who may not have identified IEP as their professional standard. There was a real sense that the message being passed from Liz and myself resonated with the audience and we have already had further enquiries about membership."
