Celebrating UK Employability Day

Employability Day 2017 took place on Friday 14th July highlighting the amazing work carried out by the employability sector across the UK.

Sam Windett, Head of Policy and Communications, said: “Employability Day has proved a great success this year, with hundreds of centres taking part to help celebrate and champion the great work of the sector. Employment support transforms the lives of individuals, families and communities, and the Day was an opportunity to show this to people. We at ERSA want to say a big thank you to everyone – you all helped to make it such an inspiring and special day. Bring on next year!”.

A huge range of inspiring events were held, underpinned by a campaign involving many stakeholders, including the Scottish Minister for Employability and Training Jamie Hepburn MSP, Meg Hillier MP, Rt Hon Yvette Cooper MP, Neil Gray MP, Lucy Allan MP, Tracy Brabin MP, Andrew Stephenson MP, Stewart Andrew MP, Barry Sheerman MP, Sue Hayman MP, Conor Burns MP, Tom Pursglove MP and the Mayors of Workington, Carlisle, Croydon and Pendle, to name just a few, and government officials from the Treasury, DWP and DfE, plus employers such as Gatwick Airport, HSBC and Barclays.

IEP Chairman Scott Parkin FIEP said “The IEP were delighted that so many of our Corporate Affiliate Partners engaged in activities, opening their doors to customers and officials to take part in fun, innovative events.  Employability Day was a huge success in helping to spread the word about the great work that employability professionals do each and every day to help people gain work, progress in work and sustain work.”
