Your professional Institution’s Annual General Meeting is taking place this Thursday in London, kindly hosted by the Salvation Army Employment Plus UK. It’s going to be a great event and we want you to join us!

It’s shaping up to be one of the highlights of the year with a packed agenda and a range of top class speakers who will be discussing the issues facing our profession today and will be offering advice on what more we can do as a profession to deliver even better services.

The IEP’s Chairman Scott Parkin FIEP will be presenting the IEP Progress Report, a comprehensive guide, sponsored by Remploy and Maximus People Services, providing an overview of what the institute has achieved during the past year, what we’ve been working on to support our Members and what is coming next.

Our Guest Speaker is Mike Hawking, Policy and Research Manager at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.  Mike’s address will focus on the issues around in-work poverty in the UK Labour Market and the importance of the employability profession in providing services that deliver real social and economic value.  Mike will be presenting JFR’s strategy to solve poverty in the UK with their 5-point plan to boost incomes and reduce costs; deliver an effective benefits system; improve education standards and raise skills; strengthen families and communities and promote long-term economic growth for the  benefit of everyone.

Richard Brooks FIEP, Director of Setas (Specialist Employment, Training and Advice Services) will be presenting awards to those Members who have recently been awarded IEP Fellowship.

David Imber FIEP is Principal of VRC Ltd, a specialist employment consultancy. He has many years senior experience in employment services and vocational rehabilitation. David will be launching the STEPs Handbook, an extensive guide for frontline Advisers to develop high quality training programmes that will enhance a customers’ ability to act effectively in the labour market, support employers better and improve employment guidance and support outcomes.  The STEPS handbook will really help frontline Employment Advisers who work with disadvantaged customers, is FREE to all IEP Members and is targeted at services that have both a Work and Health theme.

Susan Allot MIEP is Remploy’s Lead Consultant on Disability and Inclusion and Tony Collins MIEP is Remploy’s Learning Disability Ambassador.  Susan and Tony will talk about Remploy’s partnership with the IEP and how, together, we have taken forward the Disability Ambassador programme which aims to inform, inspire and bring about positive change. Remploy’s mission is to remove inequality in employment and this presentation will inform practical ways to work with employers to equip them with tools and to provide support to enable diversity.

Last but very much not least Patrick Hughes FIEP, Director of strategic labour market consultancy Salientwork Ltd will announce the results of the Board Elections to inform our membership of the new Board Members. These individuals will join those already on the IEP Board and will help shape the future and set the strategy for our professional Institute going forward.

Places are booking fast and we’re expecting a good turnout so don’t forget to book your ticket here, come and hear what your Institute is doing for you and what we see as the future of your profession.

Please also join us for drinks afterwards, we are looking forward to seeing you there.
